Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatja (NPY) Womens Council Cross Border Carer Respite Service

NPY Women's Council Cross Border Carer Respite Service provides support to carers of frail aged or those with disabilities in remote communities of the cross border area of NT, SA and WA. The Cross Border Carer Respite Service is part of the Tjungu (together) Team and works very closely with the Tjungu Team case workers who visit the lands.

Services

Direct Respite

We develop a respite plan in consultation with the referring worker, care recipient, family member and any other relevant involved services.

Indirect Respite

Providing equipment to the clients to support the carer in the caring role this can include walking sticks, walking frames, shower chairs, toilet chairs, swags, bedding and PVC mattresses.

Daytime In Home Respite

We can provide personal care and day activities, either in a community or town setting.

Individualised Package

Providing contract carers to care recipient in a motel, Aboriginal hostel, Commonwealth Approved Aged Care facility, State/Territory funded disability care and at a town based respite house jointly managed with Frontier Services.

Palliative Care

Support for the carer/family of a client who has a terminal illness. We can send out a contract carer and provide basic equipment needed. Support for the palliative client to remain on the lands.

Dementia

Frail aged clients with memory loss and dementia sometimes need a lot of help. We can provide contract carers and equipment to support the primary carer.

Your Information is Private

NPY Women's Council staff will keep your name and contact details on file as well as other information that helps us have the right story. We also write down the help we are giving you each time we talk to you on the phone or when we visit you. We keep this information so that we can give you proper help. Your information is only seen by staff at NPY Women's Council.

We can only let other people see that information if you agree or if the law says we have to. Sometimes we need to pass on your information to other services so that they can work with you. We also need to report to the government about the work we are doing with you as they give us the money to do this work.
