Residential Respite Care

The Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) must assess the client and approve access for respite in a Commonwealth Approved Aged Care facility. In Alice Springs, clients who have been approved can access respite at Old Timers (High Care), Hetti Perkins (High and Low Care) and Flynn Lodge (Low Care). Residential respite can be accessed in Tennant Creek at Pulka Pulka Kari (High Care).

1. Old Timers

Old Timers is run by Frontier Services. Old Timers is a high care residential aged care facility located in Alice Springs. Old Timers have a separate unit for dementia clients who wander and require a secure environment.

2. Hetti Perkins

Hetti Perkins is run by Aboriginal Hostels Ltd and provides low and high level care. Clients are usually of Aboriginal descent. The hostel can provide a safe and secure environment for dementia clients who wander.

3.Flynn Lodge

Flynn Lodge is run by Frontier Services and is a low care residential aged care facility located next to Old Timers. Flynn Lodge also has a dementia specific unit.

4. Pulka Pulka Kari (PPK)

Pulka Pulka Kari is an Aged Care Facility in Tennant Creek run by Frontier Services. The service provides for High Care clients and has a safe and secure environment for people with dementia who wander. Pulka Pulka Kari also provides Home and Community Care (HACC) and Community Aged Care Package (CACP) Services.
