Home and Community Care (HACC)

In Alice Springs, this is managed by Red Cross for the general community and Tangentyere Aged and Community Services for Town Camps. In Tennant Creek, this is managed by Pulka Pulka Kari and Julalikari Council Community Support Services.

HACC provides a basic service in the home including housekeeping, shopping, and personal care to people with a disability or the frail aged. If a person's needs increase, they will need to be referred to the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) for assessment to receive a Community Aged Care Package (CACP) or Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) Package. HACC does not require an assessment from ACAT.

Most Remote Aboriginal Communities with an Aged Care, Respite orCommunity Care Centre will run HACC on Community from their facility.

Community Aged Care Package (CACP)

Community Aged Care Packages in Alice Springs are managed by Red Cross and Community Care Services for the general community and Tangentyere Aged and Community Services for Town Camps. In Tennant Creek, this is managed by Pulka Pulka Kari and Julalikari Council Community Support Services.

Clients need to be approved for eligibility by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). Once the assessment has been made, the approval is sent to both agencies, in which one will provide the package when one is available.

Most Remote Aboriginal Communities with an Aged Care, Respite or Community Care Centre will run CACP on Community.

Extended Aged Care at Home Package - (EACH)

These packages are an increase from a Community Aged Care Package(CACP) where the person requires more support than a CACP can offer.Currently these packages are provided through Cavalry Silver Circle in Alice Springs.

Red Cross

Red Cross runs Community Aged Care Packages (CACP) and Home and Community Care (HACC) services in Alice Springs. They also provide Meals on Wheels and a palliative care volunteer service.

Community Care Services - St Ives Group

Community Care Services provide Community Aged Care Package (CACP)services to Alice Springs urban area.

Community Care Services also run a housing project.
