Frontier Services Commonwealth Respite For Carers Program
Commonwealth Respite for Carers Program is run through Frontier Services Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre.
The aim of this program is to provide short term low level respite and assistance to unpaid carers of a family member or friend who has a disability, chronic illness, palliative or frail aged. The program can provide short term respite from their usual care arrangements where the care recipient remains within the home.
The primary target group are carers of people who are frail aged or who have dementia, but the program is not restricted to this target group.
Respite that may be provided includes:
- Domesticassistance
- Transport
- Socialsupport
Accessibility:
- Mustbe an unpaid carer of a family member or friend.
- Understandwe have an assessment process.
- Mustbe living in Alice Springs
Assessment Process:
Frontier Services Respite and Carelink Centre receives a referral from the carer or a service provider. The carer will be allocated a case manager that will contact them in regards to an appropriate time to meet and for an assessment to be completed.
The assessment is designed to provide a holistic picture of each individual case to determine how this service can best support the carer and their needs. If the carer is new to the system, this service can offer information and do referrals to other relevant services in Alice Springs that can also provide support, particularly if long term support is needed.
Note
Commonwealth Respite for Carers does not replace existing services. If on-going support is needed, we are able to make the appropriate referrals to all other services. When other services begin, our service will cease. Other respite services not funded by NRCP are still available to carers such as emergency and short term respite through the Respite Centre.
