Frontier Services Respite for Senior Territorians (ROST)

Frontier Services is a national agency of the Uniting Church in Australia. ROST Central is a project operating in Alice Springs that can offer flexible and individual respite options for senior Territorians.

The purpose of ROST Central is to provide respite for carers and families and to ensure the clients maintain social skills as well as providing activities.

McNair House

ROST Central McNair House is situated at 18 Griffiths Place, Alice Springs.

McNair House has a large open plan kitchen, dining and lounge, a TV/Music room and bedroom. There is a large accessible bathroom.

The house is complimented by a large secure backyard with mature shady trees, benches and walking paths.

The service is able to provide long day respite and planned and emergency overnight respite. Skilled staff provides flexible day respite at the cost of $6 per day. Please contact the coordinator if you are interested in overnight respite.

  • SeniorTerritorians in Alice Springs who may have disordered/confused behavioursor are experiencing difficulties that exclude them from activelyparticipating in the existing respite programs or social groups will beconsidered for participation in the ROST program.
  • SeniorTerritorians who are in Alice Springs waiting to return to their homecommunity can access the service.
  • Carerecipients must have a current Aged Care Assessment (ACA) provided by theAged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).

St Vincent Welch Cottage

St Vincent Welch Cottage provides respite and is located at 45 Frontier Crescent in Old Timers Village.

The service aims to assist employed or studying carers of seniors in Alice Springs, delivering a flexible day care service with extended hours to cater for individual needs. The cottage is open from 7am till 7pm.

St Vincent Welch Cottage is a part of Alice Springs history and has been upgraded to accommodate this new service. We offer social support, meals, activities and companionship.

Skilled staff provides flexible day respite at the cost of $6 per day.

Transport may be available, so discuss your needs with the Coordinator.

Accessibility

Frail, aged seniors who require support whilst their carer is at work or study.

Overnight Respite

Overnight respite is available at McNair House and St Vincent Welch Cottage on a planned or emergency respite basis.

Respite can be for up to 5 nights.
